The Poppy Flower symbolizes sleep, peace, and death, and is an iconic symbol of remembrance. Wear it to embody peace, to commemorate someone you love, or simply because you can never have too many flowers in your life.

The Iceland Poppy is my absolutely favorite varietal with its delightfully crinkly paper-like leaves.

The beautiful Poppy flower is the official State flower of California. And while it may be best known for the California Super Bloom that took over social media in 2019, this lovely flower has delicate petals that are tightly crumpled in the bud. The gauzy petals burst from the bud when it blooms and flattens naturally as it searches for sunlight.

Originating from the Swedish word for sky or heaven, himmel, the Himmeli are a traditional Finnish ornament, a mobile decoration that is traditionally made out of straw, or rather reeds in Finland. They are typically extremely ornate and are traditionally suspended above the dinner table during the holiday season. It is thought that the larger the Himmeli, the larger the rye crop will be in the coming year.

While you may not have a rye crop to worry about, these gorgeous Himmeli are an elegant year-round addition to any home or office.

The Himmeli will also naturally oxidize and darken as time passes, but can be polished to its original shine.

The Iris was named after the Greek Goddess of the Rainbows. With its deeply saturated colors, this vibrant flower symbolizes faith, wisdom, and hope.

With its velvety soft leaves, the Jewel Orchid is a stunner! This variety of orchids is beloved for its foliage over its blooms which are a rich burgundy or green color with unique and mesmerizing pinstripes.

Native to Southeast Asia, they are terrestrial orchids which means that they do love to have their roots embedded in the soil. In their native environment, they can be found growing on the rainforest floor or on steep well-shaded hills or cliffs.

The flowers that do bloom are darling. They are either bright white or yellow and usually appear in winter or during the Spring months.

This particular variety of Jewel Orchid, the Golden Jewel Orchid, has darker, burgundy leaves and unique golden lightning strikes throughout those leaves.

Every single one of us has been there.

Either we were too eager and loved the plant (i.e. overwatered it) to death, received some bad tips (like “watering” a plant with ice cubes, or water frequently and shallowly), or simply had the wrong environment for a plant (hello Maranta’s - I still love you).

The Monstera adansonii has large heart-shaped leaves, and is a popular and highly prized plant for its fenestrations, the oval-shaped holes, which give it its beloved nickname of “Swiss Cheese Vine”.

The Monstera adansonii is beloved for the holes in its leaves, but it also serves a purpose. Botanists believe that the holes allow light to pass through to the lower parts of the plant, and to other plants that live below.
